HEARTeens would like to say a big thank you to everyone who has been helping us this year, and last year. This will be the last year that HEARTeens will be in action as part of the Youth For Causes Program due to the organizers’ personal commitments. Thank you to everyone who has contributed and made HEARTeens possible. Because without you, we will only be four people, aimlessly struggling to meet our goals. HEARTeens has helped to raise more than $5000 for the Singapore Heart Foundation within these two years.

We hope that everyone has learnt something new through your experience with HEARTeens. As a volunteer or a consumer, we sincerely hope that you have learnt more about interacting with people or simply gained new knowledge regarding heart health. For our volunteers especially, we hope that this experience has opened up a new avenue to volunteer work and given you inspiration to contribute to society. We wish you all the best in your future endeavors in social causes.

Hello everyone!

We’re almost reaching the end of regular streets sales. There are only 4 more sessions so please sign up quickly! HEARTeens needs more RECORD-BREAKING sales!! :D

Also, HEARTeens has changed the date of our run, Run For Your Life, from 17th July to 18th July for the convenience of our volunteers (and perhaps most participants). We will be putting up our sign up page very soon so stay tuned!

HEARTeens would like to thank all the volunteers and also the public for contributing in every little way towards our cause. We have just passed the 20% mark of our target!

HEARTeens is stepping into the fourth (and counting) week of the CIti-YMCA Youth For Causes 2010! Sales so far hasn’t been too bad, but still not too great! Thank you to all the volunteers who have turned up! So, here’s an update to what we have done, and what’s coming up:

Within the past two weeks, HEARTeens and 13 volunteers have gone to 6 different places in Singapore to sell nuts and chocolate-mint cookies. HEARTeens has also taken a huge step forward by purchasing over 1500 cookies this week and aim to finish selling them within the next two weeks. HEARTeens also decided to thank its volunteers by giving them free t-shirts! :D These shirts also serve the purpose of publicity for HEARTeens and also to show that we are united! Yesterday was the first day that HEARTeens had a night sales and we used the banner and wore our HEARTeens shirts for the first time. The sales was so good that the volunteers finished selling almost everything within 2hours and night sales had to be cancelled due to insufficient stocks. Thanks everyone!

Over the next two weeks, do look out for more streets sales and volunteers, please remember to wear your HEARTeens shirts whenever you come by to help out! We will be preparing more stocks since we have noticed that our volunteers are becoming more and more efficient! :D :D

Also, we’ll be starting publicity for our run, which is aptly titled Run For Your Life! Running is a very very healthy sport, but definitely not over-exerting yourself. So this event is to encourage you to come together with others and run healthy distances. At the same time, the distances are suitable for both beginners as well as seasoned runners. Finally, by participating in the run, you stand to take part in a lucky draw to win attractive prizes as well as win medals when you finish tops in the race! Not only are you raising funds for the beneficiaries of the Singapore Heart Foundation, you are also keeping yourself fit! So do look out for updates on the run on this wordpress blog, on our facebook group as well as on our website! (:

First streets sales of 2010!

Hello everyone! I see that our wordpress is still getting traffic, which is a good thing, though it comes as quite a surprise as well :D

So, to all readers out there, HEARTeens has been busy with streets sales (and also preparations!) for the first week of June. On Monday, the organizers of HEARTeens had a streets sales dry run at Clementi, near West Coast Plaza, and it was really a good start to our project!

On Thursday, along with seven (Yes, you didn’t read wrongly. It’s seven!) volunteers, the four organizers decided to go to Tanjong Pagar for the first official streets sales. And thanks to all our volunteers, HEARTeens managed to sell almost all our products within three hours and had a record-breaking income! Not once last year have we seen such enthusiasm from our volunteers and the public!

Today, three of the organizers and another five volunteers went to Toa Payoh to do streets sales and owing to the efforts of everyone, HEARTeens’ stocks depleted really quickly and now we’re out of stock! Good job, guys! Even though this means that the organizers have to be busy replenishing HEARTeens’ stock supplies over the weekend, we will be very happy to do so!

We hope everyone had fun at the streets sales and will go to www.hearteens.org now to apply as a volunteer so that we can inform you about our activities. We will be having streets sales every tuesday, thursday and friday of June at various locations. So volunteers, check your emails regularly and we hope to see more of you! And to the public, we hope our biscuits and nuts are bringing joy to your day! :D

Hi everyone! We are happy to inform you that HEARTeens is back for the second time! And this year, it will be bigger and better! HEARTeens has already had so many street sales, mainly at Raffles Place and Tanjong Pagar, though once was at Bugis, and another one time at Orchard. HEARTeens is coming to the end of their daily street sales since the June holidays are almost over. Soon, HEARTeens will be shifting their focus to online sales, so stay tuned to find out what you can buy from us online! :D

How to Fold An Origami Heart – The Perfect Tutorial

Let HEARTeens teach you how to fold a HEART today! With tons of experience, you can rest assured you’ll never go wrong.

Step 1: Get a piece of square paper!

Step 2: Fold the paper into halves.

Step 3: Fold the left and right corners to the center, matching edges.

Step 4: Flip it over.

Step 5: Bring the two bottom corners of the triangle to the last corner.

Step 6: Open up the triangle and push down to form a square.

Step 7: Repeat Step 6 for the other side.

Step 8: Open the two squares partially, you will see a triangle. Fold the corner of the triangle down.

Step 9: Fold down the two corners of the square

Step 10: Fold down the corner of the small triangle formed.

Step 11: Repeat Step 9 and 10 for the other side.

Step 12: Flip it over.

And you get your beautiful origami HEART!

As part of our Youth For Causes Project, we will be challenging the Singapore Book of Records’ Largest Origami Heart Formation! Wish us luck, because we really need plenty!

First Streets Sales Was Good…

So let’s look forward to the second one tomorrow!

Today’s street sales was remarkably good thanks to the volunteers who really put in their utmost and tried very hard to keep the group going! We managed to do much better than the dry run and hope that our sales will continue to improve.

Tomorrow, we will be heading down to the same place to sell more cookies! We are situated near Lau Pa Sat, opposite ASO Building. You may have seen us around – probably even in some shopping centre folding origami hearts and arranging them into a larger heart! Feel free to approach us and buy a packet of cookies from us! :D

Following its dry run Streets Sales, HEARTeens will be organising its first Street Sales on 11th June 2009, Thursday, at the Central Business District Area near Raffles Place MRT station!

Chocolate chip cookies will be sold at $2 for a pack of 3.
